An already well known coffee establishment in Central London, Curators Coffee Gallery emerged as the flagship cafe to Curators Coffee Studio. As a former clothing store in Fitzrovia, the brief was to create a modern cafe and gallery space that had to stand alone from the industrial design seen in many London cafes.
Handmade cement tiles were sourced from Morocco, custom coloured wall lighting was made locally, and mid-century furniture was found from various sources. Reclaimed cedar boards were stained to a beautiful Danish mid-century tone, which then formed the main counters and feature walls. We worked closely with the very skilled team from Made by Jason on designing a completely custom interior that showcased their beautifully crafted joinery, the vast range of coffee equipment, and the specialist brew bar.
The interior is also a platform for the ever changing artworks and planting to enhance the relaxed feeling of the cafe. Downstairs, the multicoloured bathroom and purple staircase add a splash of colour to the muted grey palette.
